Landowner Development

"Whereas we are seeing some signs of activity in the development market, landowners beware; this is not a revival of the 2007 market. A new perspective is required, balancing the developers need for flexibility against the landowners desire to retain some control over their land. Amicable discussions can benefit both parties!"

Alison Bailey, Head of Landowner Development

At Wilsons we have developed a team which focuses specifically on guiding landowners through the process of realising their development opportunities. This allows Wilsons to act for clients without any perceived conflicts of interest.

Alison Bailey leads the Landowner Development team and has been working on behalf of landowners for more than 10 years. She specialises in acting for clients on major residential (50 plus houses) and commercial developments. With clients ranging from traditional landed estates to farmers and major charities, her work encompasses: options, conditional contracts, joint ventures, consortium agreements, collaboration agreements and section 106 agreements amongst others.

Alison lists in the 2009 UK Chambers as a leader in her field, with sources highlighting her as “quite outstanding” and applaud her for being “very approachable and friendly.”

Working with Alison is Louisa Swanton, a partner who joined Wilsons in 2008 who specialises in guiding landowners through the process of realising development value. Also Jane Weston, a consultant who specialises in Town and Country planning matters advising on applications for certificates of lawfulness and complex section 106 agreements.
