Children
The main aim of the courts and therefore family lawyers is not to become involved in matters concerning children unless there is a real problem and a real benefit from that involvement.
Accordingly, in the vast majority of cases the parties’ equality of parental rights will survive a divorce intact and unaffected.
Where problems over children do arise, the courts treat them as a priority and have a wide range of powers to deal with them.
The range of issues will include:
- a child’s place of residence
- contact
- education
- removal from England
