Legacy
"The practice is pre-eminent in legacy and contentious probate work and this is a field it has truly made its own...The 'highly pragmatic and diplomatic' Peter Jeffreys acts for a number of household names...while Peter Steer is the team's key player when it comes to contentious probate...James Aspden is making waves in the field and his 'energetic and tenacious approach' has impressed clients...'the service matches - if not beats - any City firm we know.' We provide a complete range of services to protect and maximise legacy income for charities. Our legacy clients include many of the best-known names in the sector, including over 20 of the charities ranked in the top 50 by income in the Top 3000 Guide to UK Charities (05/06 edition). Charities are key clients of Wilsons and we are proud of our role as their ambassadors.
We are happy to advise on any aspect of legacy management. We assist our clients with all manner of difficulties, ranging from one-off questions about particular administrations to fully contested litigation involving multi-million pound estates. For clients who require a greater level of assistance, we offer a delegated authority service enabling us to look after the day-to-day management of legacy matters.
Particular matters upon which we advise regularly include: the validity of Wills, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, problem executors, claims against solicitors, difficulties arising out of the sale of property within an estate, equitable claims including proprietary estoppel, undue influence and fraud.
