Wilsons acts in purchase of large block of land in Wiltshire

Wilsons is very pleased to have acted for the buyers of Down Farm, Everleigh, near Pewsey, Wiltshire.
Down Farm was sold by public auction at The Bear Hotel, Devizes on 30 September, with completion late October. At the fall of the hammer in a packed auction room the price obtained was £3,600,000. Dreweatt Neate acted as the auctioneers.
Down Farm has far reaching views and is situated on the edge of Pewsey Hill. The 502 acres of land sold included planning permission for a new farmhouse to replace a pair of derelict cottages, a range of farm buildings, productive arable land and south facing pasture banks.
The Wilsons team comprised Robert Swift and Alison Bailey. Robert Swift commented:
“I enjoy working in an auction environment with its challenges and certainty and suspect that the current economic climate will mean there may be more auction sales in the two years to come”.
Both Robert and Alison have again been commended in this year’s Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession (an independent directory whose research is audited by the British Market Research Bureau) for their legal work with the farming industry. Alison Bailey is described as “quite outstanding”, whilst Robert’s “qualities of pragmatism balanced with attention to detail pays dividends on deals under restricted time conditions” are mentioned.
