" 'The charming, efficient and extremely helpful' Judith Beddow heads the commercial property team. She specialises in commercial development work, and also advises occupiers and landlords on landlord and tenant matters."
Chambers UK 2009
Judith is head of our commercial property team and deals with sales and
acquisitions often with substantial development elements including overage, options, conditional contracts, and planning agreements. She also deals with heavyweight leases and non contentious Landlord and Tenant work generally. She is familiar with organising and carrying out the property back up work for corporate transactions.
Judith’s range of work has recently included the purchase of property for a Gliding Club from which the Club will carry on its activities (this was made particularly difficult because of the overage clause required by the seller and by the point to point course which ran through the middle!); the sale by a charity of a redundant hospital site for development; she supervises the work carried out for the retail estate of Sense; acting for the junior partner in a joint venture with a government department; she has advised recently on agreements where development profit is shared between the landowner and the developer; she has a particular advertising hoarding client and has developed a specialism in the licensing involved in the erection of advertising hoardings.
She also now carries out a significant amount of work in conjunction with our Charities Department involving property work for schools (including complete refinancing) and community buildings using grant money. Current work includes several cases of advising charities on project management agreements (with third parties) in connection with developments to be carried out on charity land. She has also drafted several grant agreements for grants given by a charity client for development projects..
She is used to dealing with situations that require an entirely customised approach.
Judith qualified as a solicitor with Wilsons in 1978 and became a partner in 1982 and is a former member of Wilsons’ management board.
